Producing Fresh Milk ~ Cow & Goat Editions
An Educational Project of the Farm-to-Consumer Foundation
First Hard-copy Edition, 11 x 8 1/2, December 2012
90-page spiral-bound book
The REPORT of the Michigan Fresh Unprocessed Whole Milk Workgroup
contains clear and factual information about fresh milk.
The Michigan REPORT is the product of a group of dairy farmers,
producers, consumers, scholars and food-safety regulators who
met monthly for six years to share their knowledge and experiences
with milk.
They wrote a list of questions that framed the controversy,
then researched and discussed each in sequence.
The book is a consensus document, that is, all participants agreed to all of the text.
Caring for Fresh Milk⎼Consumers Guide
Preserving the Qualities of Unprocessed Whole Milk
by Peggy Beals, RN
Fifth Edition, 8 ½ x 5 ½, 2016
32-page booklet
Knowing the benefits of fresh (raw) milk, you finally located some.
Now what?
This booklet covers the procurement, handling, transportation, storage and more of this precious, tasty and healthy food resource.
Simple procedures for maintaining the quality of fresh, living (biologically active) milk to consumers who strive to take responsibility for the food they eat are outlined. It is written for people who want to understand both the how and the why of these procedures.
The Consumers Guide gives an overview of the dairy farm and goes on to describe hygienic measures the consumer can follow including details of the use of hydrogen peroxide.
A primary goal of the booklet is to encourage dairy farmers to make this information accessible for their herd share consumers. Special bulk rates are available to make this economically feasible.
Well-credentialed author, Beals provides some
important caveats and trustworthy resources as well.
